
In 1988, during a trip to Concon, Quinta Region, Beto met La Ley drummer, Mauricio ClaverÃa, who invited him to join the band that had just endured the departure of two of its founding members. Beto made his singing debut in the first album of Law, called "Desert," which sold only 500 copies, quickly becoming the voice of the band. Soon, La Ley released his first album with a record label, Double Opposing, which presented a cover of the Rolling Stones "Angie", a big hit that propelled the band with widespread renown.
After that, Beto Cuevas has been a major creative brains behind the band, writing and composing most of the songs. Many observers give credit to bands of their years in America as a great influence on the sound of La Ley, which is unique among Chilean and Latin bands. Latin and less rock, soft rock in some cases. Also, the Law written in English, Spanish and sometimes French.

In March 2008, Beto Cuevas conducted pre-launch as a soloist.
